Pope Benedict views Demons in His own backyard.

Pope Benedict a sexual abuser by proxy?

Pope Benedict has proven to all of us that the longer one avoids a crisis, the longer one buries their head in the sand, the avalanche will still come stronger and harder than ever. Catholics come home? How about the Pope, needing to come back to his own home, and look into his backyard. His brother, who is also a priest in Germany has been implicated in abusing numerous children since the nineties. The longer individuals ignore, minimize, and cover up their traumas and fear, the heavier the weight becomes and soon assistance of a greater magnitude is needed. This is an excellent example where the Pope had ample opportunity to make amends, act quick for his flock, and show integrity. Nothing has been done, and now he is in a media frenzy that will hopefully get worse. This is one area where the media can force his hand at action and change.

Sex abuse, and the priesthood. Let me just say as a clinician this is NOT about a vow of celibacy, the answer is not lifting the marriage ban on priests. There are many perpetrators that do not even become sexually aroused when abusing. There is a strong power and control feature here. Offenders who have been convicted, and are released frequently are seen residing near schools, day cares, and other areas where children play, and reside. So now we have the Pope’s brother working for years with a children’s choir in Germany. Will the Pope instill resignation ultimatums? Will the Pope take control and admit his own negligence? Where is the integrity of the Pope and the Catholic church?

These questions will be answered shortly or the avalanche of fear, denial, and ignorance will come tumbling down upon the innocent and the guilty will continue there free ride and more children will be abused. The longer the Pope ignores, placates, and does not address the issue he is becoming a sexual perpetrator by proxy.

I also think this could be true for parents and other trusted adults as well. Since children are so trusting and vulnerable, any older individual could manipulate and take advantage of children and their good naive nature. Just a thought: when certain people know about the abuse but fail to report and or to get help for the child . . . aren’t they also able to be held liable as well?
Thanks for your time again.
