The Karmic Thread

February 22, 2009

During my last presentation and book signing, a lady in her mid-fifties approached me,smiling and appeared happy to see me. She stated she understood about the karmic thread that runs through life and was pleased I addressed it in the book. She was complimentary; however I sensed she had more to say. She went on to tell me of a recent car trip with her eighty three year-old mother. While driving, she was describing the book, Above His Shoulders. Her mother, whom she has had a close relationship for years, disclosed to her for the first time she was sexually abused by her grandfather.  They proceeded to discuss the incident and how, at the time she quickly disclosed the incident to her Aunt. She was so grateful that I had written the book. If she had not read the book, and not disclosed her mother who is in her eighth decade of life, may have never shared this with her.

I believe incidents in our life happen for a reason.  Our attitude, our presentation, the people we meet, and interactions play a role. We must be aware and see the importance. The karmic thread gave this woman a disclosure that had never been shared. She and her mother are now closer and a piece of family history has been revealed. THIS is one benefit of the book. It can get people talking, disclosing, and through disclosure can come resolution. I am pleased the book played a small role.
